Taken at a popular tourist spot in the Atherton Tablelands that I visited late in the afternoon. The location is known as the Curtain Fig tree. This is a magnificent tree of incredible size with a walkway around it.
Having tried to photograph the Curtain Fig I was not satisfied with the results I was getting so went a bit beyond the tree. I then saw the sunlight hitting this Fig tree and the colour coming off the bark of the tree really caught my eye.
I switched lenses and pushed back some wait a while that was preventing me from getting as close I wanted, then set up the tripod and spent a while taking many shots of this tree.
I shot this using the camera in portrait orientation and took about twelve shots which I stitched together in editing software. The proximity to Fig the tree and the obstructing vegetation meant I had to shoot it this way to get it all in one large shot.
