While chasing good weather and a New Moon I set up my camera to take a long timelapse of the night sky circling the Southern Polaris in Mt Cook, South Island NZ. Having set the camera up in -6 degrees with a lens warmer I then retreated for 5 hrs and let the timelapse begin. At 3am I climbed out of my campervan and retrieved my camera and skipped through the images to see if the timelapse had been a success. To my utter joy I not only had a crystal clear timelapse of the night sky but during the capture the Aurora Australis had made an appearance as well. I cannot tell you the joy I felt at seeing the images.
